Simonstown & O’Mahonys Together To Assit Community

In these extraordinary times, we need to band together to give whatever assistance we can in the community. We are doing this in conjunction with Navan O Mahony’s to give as broad a reach as possible in the town. We know that many people are keen to help out and are looking for avenues to become involved. While you are naturally free to choose your own group, we are recommending that you sign up with http://www.volunteermeath.ie/ We don’t have clarity around Garda Vetting but the Meath Volunteer Centre know we have a number of members with GAA vetting. This does not expand at this point beyond GAA activities but that is continued to be worked on. If you are able to help out in any way, we are certain that it would be appreciated should the need arise. Please share this message as widely as you can within and outside the club....

Social Distancing Statement

Dear All, We have heard over the last few days about ‘’Social Distancing’’ and for some it is not completely clear what this actually means. The Graphic attached is a great explanation of the potential spread of this virus when we don’t limit our distancing. Lately I have heard of children having sleepovers, young adults visiting their girlfriends, or the other way around and even adults visiting friends. Please consider all those people who are now having to put their lives at risk to protect and provide for us We have never seen anything like this so do your part to stop the spread of Covid-19. Co-Vid 19 Statement 11-03-20

11/03/2020 Simonstown Gaels GFC wish to inform all concerned that on the 10th March a member of the club tested positive for Covid 19. This member is an adult player who recently went on holiday in Italy. We wish the club member a full and speedy recovery. The player was one of two players from the club on the trip abroad. In advance of their return these players were requested by team management to undertake and readily agreed to a period of two-weeks of self-isolation. The second player is still in isolation and currently showing no signs of symptoms. Neither player has visited the club since their return. Th club informed the HSE and the County board of this development and is seeking advice and guidance from the HSE as we believe that our duty of care to our members and community in general is of paramount importance. We take this opportunity to ask that everyone respect the privacy of the players in question and their families and also ask that members acquire their information from reliable and verified sources. The club will provide details when further details become available. Chairman Mel...
