Seamus Kenny and four other Meath footballers will be getting their heads shaved as part of the Today FM/Irish Cancer Foundation 'Shave or Dye' campaign at Navan Shopping Centre on Friday (4.0).
The Simonstown player, Joe Sheridan, Mark Ward, Paddy O'Rourke and Shane McAnarney have volunteered to participate in the hair raising event.
This year up to 30,000 people living in Ireland will be diagnosed with cancer. The funds raised will go towards cancer patient care services and cancer research.
Other members of the Royal County squad will be on hand on Friday with collection buckets and they will be asking the public to give generously.
"It's a very worthy cause and we would hope that people will respond by putting their hands in their pockets," said Seamus who is organising the shave.
"Today FM and the Irish Cancer Foundation made contact with GAA teams throughout the country through Armagh footballer Aaron Kernan and a lot of teams have committed to getting involved.
"The aim is to raise €50,000 for the charity through the participation of GAA players nationally," he added.
