The seniors withstood a strong second half rally from intermediate side Na Fianna in Enfield on Friday evening to advance to the second round of the Feis Cup.
The visitors were totally dominant in the opening twenty five minutes and led by 0-12 to 0-1 but Na Fianna narrowed the deficit when hitting 1-2 without reply coming up to half-time.
The hosts started the second half where they left off the first posting five points on the trot to trail by just a point before Shane O'Neill opened Simonstown's second half account with a point in the 45th minute.
Substitute Andrew Kearney, who replaced Hank Traynor who had to retire after sustaining a serious knee injury, helped himself to 1-2 in the closing stages as the team in sky blue finished strongly.
