Simonstown v Skryne
U16 Division 1
Tuesday 14th March
Venue: Skryne
Throw-in: 7.30pm

After successive weekends where games had to be cancelled it is catch-up time at the moment for Simonstown’s U16 girls (and a lot of other teams!). After an opening day defeat to Royal Gaels in Navan, this squad will be anxious to get their campaign back on track. However, this will not be on easy one. Skryne, like Simonstown, lost their opening encounter and will be determined to pick up some points.

While the north Navan side were beaten by 5-12 to 2-08 in the end by Royal Gaels, they nevertheless put in a very strong performance that day and with ten minutes remaining were only a point behind the very highly rated Dunshaughlin girls. They competed very well all over the field and perhaps it was just that little bit of guile and composure that allowed Royal Gaels to pull away in those final minutes when they landed a flurry of goals. One area where Simonstown will need to tighten up is in the concession of unnecessary turn-overs.
All in all, Tuesday night’s clash promises to be a very interesting tie.
