U13 Division 6B Autumn League, Round 2
Simonstown C 1-02
Navan O’Mahonys B 11-14

Our U13C team were back in action last night in Round 2 of the Autumn League. On a terrible wet night for football they unfortunately came up against an extremely strong Navan O’Mahonys B side. For the first ten minutes of this game these young ladies matched their much stronger opposition in every department but as the half progressed O’Mahonys took control. Despite the best efforts of our Simonstown girls the scores started to mount up.

To their credit the girls continued to try and play football with the little possession they had and some fine build up play did result in Libby O’Reilly finding the back of the net and Mia Walsh continued her fine free scoring form with 2 points. Even though the scores kept coming for O’Mahonys in the second half not for one minute did any of the girls give up and despite the final score it was great to see the girls accept that the better team won on the day.

There will be much better days ahead for this group of girls as most of this team will still be eligible for this age group next year and beyond. There is no doubt they will continue to learn from these games and again as long as they are enjoying playing and bonding as a team they will be a force to be reckoned with in the very near future.

Team: Meighan Dowdall, Eabha Harmon, Eabha Madden, Caoimhe Lambe, Ava Dooner, Mya Doocey, Shauna Laverty, Rihanna Skelly, Anna Gardiner, Mia Walsh (C) (0-02), Aoife Cahill, Grace Gardiner, Libby O’Reilly (1-00), Mia Kavanagh, Erin Coogan, Maddison Lyons, Molly Holland, Abigail Mitchell.
