Both teams can be forgiven for the slow start to the match with Simonstown registering just 2 points in the opening 22 minutes. Simonstown’s Eoghan Gough impressed in the first half scoring 4 of Simonstown’s five points. His athletic and agile running enabled the Gaels to create many openings. The second half was an entertaining and free flowing spectacle. Both teams exchanged scores and it was tight throughout, Player coach Micky Brennan had a goal opportunity but his effort was smartly saved by Conor Brennan. The Gaels found themselves 2 points ahead after 37 minutes after Chris O’Neill rocketed his shot past Brennan in the Tones goal. Tones responded with 2 points and quickly leveled the encounter. Robert Reid entered proceedings on the 45th minute and made an instant impact. His goal came from an acute angle and finished ‘top bins’, Reid was not finished and added to his tally with a great point from distance. However this would be Simonstown’s final point of the match.
